Banging
Hear a loud banging noise when you turn on a tap? This plumbing noise is what we call a Water Hammer. Water hammers occur when a closed valve abruptly stops the flow of water through a pipe. Not only does it produce a loud, discomforting noise; there is potential for pipe damage, which could cause a burst pipe to occur. Water Hammers take place when the air chambers in your pipe valves clog with water.
Our Recommendation? Get a plumber to take a look and unblock this for you!
Shaking
Every time water flows through your pipes, the pipe shakes. However, you shouldn’t be able to hear this and if you can, it means your pipes are probably not as secure as they should be! This likely means that the mounting straps used to secure your pipes has loosened, resulting in you guessed it… Shaking Pipes!
This problem can simply be fixed by tightening these straps or completely replacing the parts that have pulled or worn away. You can do this yourself, but we understand you may be a bit out of your comfort zone, venturing into your walls. If that is the case, call a professional plumber!
Gurgling
A clogged drain is the most common cause of that gurgling noise. If gurgling noises do occurs whenever you use any drain, it is a good indication that there’s a problem with your drain vents.
It’s vital for your drains to be properly vented to prevent air bubbles; the perpetrator of that gurgling noise! Getting your drain vents replaced is recommended, so give your preferred plumber a call.
Screeching
Ever watched a horror movie? If so, I’m sure you have heard the sound of a screeching valve. It’s that high pitched whine/screech when a tap is turned on, before the water exits.
Screeching faucets are commonly the result of a loose or damaged part of the faucet itself. The easiest solution…. Replace the Faucet!
