Sometimes it can be hard to determine whether you should call a plumber or to try solve the issue yourself!
From our years of experience in attending issues that people tried to fix when they really shouldn’t have, here is a list of issues you should leave to the experts!
Hot Water Units
If you find your water unit to be malfunctioning, we recommend leaving this job to the professionals! Trying to repair a gas or electric hot water unit yourself can end up causing far more damage, and thus increasing the repair price when you do have to engage a plumber. Not to mention that fiddling in things that you have no idea about (especially when it involved electricity, gas & water) can be quiet dangerous.
Sewage Problems
These issues are extremely messy and smelly… We suggest leaving it to someone who gets paid to deal with s#!t, instead of putting yourself in that situation! Not only is it an uncomfortable situation, they are also tricky to solve.
Stormwater Drain Issues
If your stormwater drainage is not installed and maintained in the correct manner, erosion could occur causing chemicals to make their way into your waterways. Additionally, incorrect installation and design of stormwater systems could pose leak and flood risks. We recommend having a professional look into this issue.
Low Water Pressure
May people believe they can easily solve this issue however, this issue can be a symptomatic of other, bigger and more complicated issues. Instead of just ‘bandaging’ the issue yourself, when you enlist a plumber, they will help get to the root of the issue, instead of just scraping the surface.
Installing a New Water Heater
Similar to how we recommend staying away from malfunctioning hot water units, we recommend not trying to install these yourself either! This process is tedious and requires a great amount of knowledge to correctly execute it. A professional will be aware of which supply lines to hook the water heater up to and they will be able to ensure that the unit has proper drainage.
Here at Gallant Plumbing, we are aware that the cost of hiring a plumber can get expensive. Because of this, people can be deterred from engaging a plumber and try to fix the issue themselves. However, this has the potential to create more damage and thus increasing the cost of engaging a plumber when you have no other choice. We recommend that before attacking any plumbing issue yourself, give us a call and we will be able to advise you whether it’s something you can solve or something you should leave to us!
