Here at Gallant we recently decided to update our company values in an attempt to put more emphasis on them throughout our business. Our values have always been something we stood by, but we can always find ways to get them to influence us more. Below is our revised company values and what makes each one of them.
Here are the updated Gallant Values:
Hot Communication
Honest, Open, Two-Way
Cool Care
Customers, Ourselves, Other Staff, Leadership
ACT Responsible
Accountable, Can do, Trustworthy
BE Gallant
Be the best version of yourself, Empower great service
Why Have Company Values?
They Should be Part of Your Hiring Process
As important as the skills are to the job in finding a new employee, their values need to reflect your own. If you’re stuck choosing between two applicants, the likely choice is the one that fits your values. Training people into new skills is a much easier approach than trying to completely rewire someone who just doesn’t fit your company. This is where our ACT value comes into place. We need the new employee to know they are accountable for what they do and say on the job. The ‘can do’ attitude alongside trustworthiness is always a way to making the day to day operations of a fast paced workplace more enjoyable.
They Act as a Point of Difference for Your Business
If you are actually serious about the way you implement values they can act as your point of difference. We pride ourselves on our high level of communication between clients and our team. This has acted as a key point of difference for us and our service. By taking the time to inform our staff on the reasons why we need to follow this creates clarity on the value, ensuring it follows all the key points of us being honest, open and of course two-way.
Extra steps we’ve taken to further implement our values so far
In early 2019, here at Gallant we introduced a leadership program with the assistance of Mark from Leading People & Culture. Mark is helping us through monthly leadership workshops, introducing the new values in a positive and hands on way to our team. The module of the leadership program revolves around these values and helps us distinguish who we are as workers by conducting learning and leadership style tests.
How important do you think a businesses values are? What do you or the business you are working for do to reinforce company values? How do you demonstrate your companies values in your everyday life?
