Goodwork – the network built for tradies
Goodwork is in its early stages but looks like it could be the Facebook of the trade industry. Currently, Goodwork is a one stop social hub working as a place to make trade connections and look for jobs. This is an eye opener for anyone looking for trade work or looking to find a good trade worker. The app also avoids the hassle of resumes or employment emails. It can also be used to make connections in the trade industry and to post the work you do. This article will focus around how Goodwork can be used and the future benefits you may find from the app.
Key Reason why its good for an employee – Profile Functionality
Listing skills when creating a profile around yourself is great to show you’re the right candidate in the apps format. For plumbers you can list whether you do commercial and/or residential work, years of experience and areas you specialise in. If you are currently working, then there’s a spot for your current work. This includes the ability to add photos of your work to attract any plumbing businesses looking at your profile. The message feature also gives the app a more relaxed feel to the possible hiring process and can possible speed up the process. This is very similar to what Facebook or LinkedIn attempt to do.
Key Reason it’s good for an employer – Job Posting Simplicity
Being able to add ‘must haves’ for a job posting allows you to easily filter out people who wouldn’t be suitable for the job, much like you can on Seek.com or Indeed.com. The map location is a nice touch to the posting of jobs as an easy visual for people to see if they would be in consideration for the job or where it would be located. The listing features of skills needed for the job you’re posting is an easy to use tick the box function; sleek and simple.
What to look for in the future?
Further Push Notifications
Ensuring we are all up to date as possible is essential but difficult as people want to be in the know all the time without making the effort. A way around this could be to create a ‘Saved Search’ type feature. Any jobs that are listed of a similar nature to what you’re looking for/have applied for could be added to your inbox list. This could also be done for employers anytime a new person that fits their job description joins the app.
Further Profile Expansion
Showing your current status such as looking for work or working on job posted on Goodwork. Posting when this job finishes would help with people looking for work or employers knowing who not to contact about job postings if immediate work is needed. Another aspect would include using the connection features further including endorsing tradies you’ve worked with previously as well as tagging others in your work – tapping further into the social aspect of the app.
