The gloomy winter months have people dreaming of the good old summer days or even escaping to the glorious European summer (I seriously wish). 1. Ensure Gutter and Downpipes are Clean
When gutters and downpipe are clear and functioning, water is able to efficiently escape the property, preventing any kind of damage being done. Overflowing gutters can cause roof leaks and damage to the structure of the gutters and downpipes, affecting their functionality and efficiency. 2. Roof Check
If you have got any lingering roof leaks that you just haven’t got around to yet, now is the time to get to them! Those hectic winter storms challenge the best of properties and pretty much always cause some form of damage to a property with any issues. 3. Hot Water System Check
Cold showers at any time aren’t pleasant, but in winter they’re just a no go! In the winter months, hot water systems are under increased load due to the colder weather. If in the months leading up to Winter you are finding that your hot water system seems to be under performing, we’d recommend getting it looked at by a plumbing expert. They will be able to repair any defects or advise if a replacement is necessary, before it bursts and potentially causes much worse damage to the property. Not to mention some unhappy residents!
4. Maintenance and Check of Gas Heaters
It’s important for heaters to be maintained and checked over on a regular basis. Carbon monoxide is an odourless, colourless, poisonous gas formed by incomplete combustion of carbon and is produced in all types of gas heaters, fireplaces and gas refrigerators; pretty much any gas related appliances. We recommend having any gas heaters at your property tested to ensure they are operating in a safe manner and not producing poisonous carbon monoxide.
