Social media isn’t the place to show what we as plumbers do on a day-to-day basis, because trust us, it ain’t pretty! We know the people we want to reach don’t want to see leaking sewerage, blocked toilets and dig ups on their Instagram feed. They’re on Instagram trying to forget about these things!
Here at Gallant, we use social media to differentiate ourselves from competitors and demonstrate the professionalism of our business. The main goal of our social media profiles are to have fantastic plumbers looking at us saying, ‘OMG, Can I please work here!!!’
How do we do this?
The way we do this is by promoting a fantastic team culture and to be seen as a knowledgeable company of authority in our industry. The types of posts we share are frequently updated blog posts, motivational quotes, fantastic photos from our plumbers on site, meet the team posts, fun facts, educational videos, awards, team activities and customer testimonials. These type of posts demonstrate professionalism and a real sense of community and a supportive, fun team culture.
Our tagline at Gallant is: ‘Redefining what it means to be and do business with a Tradie’ and our social media presence is one of the ways we are doing this. We want plumbers to realise that they can be professional and be part of a team where they are encouraged and appreciated.
That’s exactly what we use social media for! It’s the easiest way to connect with these people and is the way of the future. And the power of it these days is phenomenal!
Here at Gallant we have daily posts, all with strategies behind them. I always ask myself: what value does this provide my audience with? What do they get out of it? What will make them stop scrolling and read what I have to say?

This stuff is incredible! The targeting you can do is phenomenal. You can get your message across to the exact people you want to. Based on age, location you live in or have been to in the last 24 hours, job titles, interests… The list goes on!
And seriously… This stuff is crazy cheap!

We decided to utilise Facebook advertising to create brand awareness and get people applying to work with us. We launched 3 campaigns:
- One to gain page likes so more people could see our daily post updates and we could connect with them on a daily basis
- One to direct people to our ‘Work with us’ page which directs them to apply for a position with us
- And finally a ‘video views’ campaign which was a video of all our plumbers saying what they love about working at Gallant, to again encourage people to apply for positions with us.
We ran these three campaigns for 1 week and the results we got were phenomenal!
Our page likes increased by 783%, People reached increased by 508% and post engagement increased by 274%. All of that cost us less than $100!
