Roof Leaks in Southbank – Plumber Melbourne
Our plumbers are used to checking out all types of roof leaks in Melbourne. This roof leak investigation in Southbank had a strange smell associated with it and this is what our plumber did to save the day.
It was after arriving on site our our Roof Plumber inspected above the ceiling and found lots of damp insulation. Here is some signs that you might have some damp insulation:
- A damp and musty smell
- The appearance of mould or mildew on walls, floors or ceilings
- Walls, floors or ceilings that feel cold or damp
- Dark or discoloured patches on walls or plaster
- Lifting or peeling wallpaper
- Excessive condensation on windows
After this, our plumber gained access to the roof and found 2 old screw holes in the roof which he then cleaned off and sealed. Then our plumber accessed the male toilets. This is where he found a mouldy smell. It was here that the tiles appeared to have gotten wet. Then to make sure that the smell was from the ceiling leak and not from the toilets themselves, our plumber inspected all urinals. Luckily he found no leaks but there were visible urine marks externally and that there were no P-mats present. Then, taking the investigation a little further our roof plumber even realised that the automated air freshener was not working due to flat batteries so he went out and grabbed some for the client.

Finally our plumbers recommendation was to install P-mats to urinals to assist in neutralising the main contributor to the smell. Lots of small changes that contribute to one much larger problem. Many plumbing visits can be avoided with proper maintenance from owners.
