Does this sound familiar?
Friday afternoon: ‘Thank God it’s Friday!’, bring on the weekend!
Monday morning: ‘Where the hell did the weekend go?’
Here are 6 tips to make the most of your weekend so you feel content and refreshed when your alarm goes off Monday Morning!
- Take a break from work
Unplug from all things work related. Ensure you are actually leaving work and not just changing locations and working somewhere else. Take time to unwind; you’ve earned it!
- Don’t spend your day sleeping late
As tempting as it is, don’t waste majority of your valuable day in bed. It can also interfere with your sleep schedule for the rest of the week! Alternatively, if you find yourself feeling tired, take a short power nap during the day.
- Make some plans
A lot of time, we go into the weekend thinking we want to do ‘simply nothing’! But that is quite literally impossible! So make a plan for how you want to spend your weekend, even if that plan involves staying in bed until 10am and watching movies!
- Exercise
I’m sure you’ve heard the power of endorphins! Well surprise surprise, its all true! And think about it; if you work in an office job, that’s about 40 hours a week of sedentary, sitting down behaviour. So the weekend is the perfect time to get yourself moving. Plus, those endorphins can give you motivation and energy to make the most of your weekend!
- Plan a little for the week ahead
There is nothing more stressful than that Monday morning rush to get out the door. On a Sunday night or quiet patch on your weekend, take time to look at your calendar, create some goals for the week, prepare some snacks or meals and simply organise yourself for the week ahead. Preparation is key and when you are prepared, it can take half the stress out of your week.
- Unplug from technology and smartphones
Being constantly connected to smartphones & social media spreads your attention thin, thus draining you of energy at a time you are trying to recharge. Try make a conscious effort to devote time away from your smartphone; you won’t miss much I promise!
