Hot Water Service in Hughesdale
Gallant Plumbing were recently called to a hot water service in Hughesdale. We sent our best Melbourne plumbers out to solve the issue.
Our best Melbourne plumbers arrived on site and met with the client to discuss the issues. Firstly, our plumbers made their way up to the roof and could see that there are 2 hot water systems. 1 seems to be a solar system feeding into the gas water heater system before it enters the building. Our Melbourne plumbers started off by removing the large cover on the gas water heating system that covers the booster, circulation pump and controller panel.
Following on, our best plumbers checked if there was electricity going to the control panel of the gas geyser from the dual GPO on the roof between the solar geyser and the gas geyser. They also checked if there was power on the GPO on the left side of the solar hot water tank. There was no electrical supply to either plug points on the roof. There is also no indication/number on the GPO’s on the roof as to which main power supply board feeds it.

Our best Melbourne plumbers then went to find the main power supply boards. They found 3 on the north side, 1 on the first floor and 2 on the ground floor. The first floor power supply board mentions 15amp GPO Roof which they reset and tested again. Still no power at the dual GPO between the hot water tanks and on the GPO for the Solar water tank.
Our best plumbers then plugged in the control panel for the gas booster and could see it switched on but had an error. They opened up the gas booster unit and there was water leaking inside the unit. It has leaked down onto the electrical connections inside the booster. Our Melbourne plumbers plugged it in for a few seconds to see if it went on and there was some smoke coming from inside the unit. As a result, our plumbers unplugged the unit and isolated the electrical connection as it is now a fire/shock hazard.
Our best Melbourne plumbers recommended an electrician as it is needed to fix GPO’s on the roof, and a follow up is needed to replace the gas heater booster.
