Hot water is one of the comforts of modern life we all take for granted, you will appreciate it most when you realise it’s gone. This is more likely to occur than you think. A small mistake or malfunction in your hot water system can leave you shivering in your bathroom. We have a lot of experience dealing with hot water system issues. In this blog post, we will discuss a job involving hot water plumbing in Cranbourne North.
We first got a call reporting a lack of hot water in a household in Cranbourne North. The first thing we did after our team of Gallant Plumbers arrived was to conduct a thorough inspection of the household’s hot water system. What we found was the type and nature of the household’s hot water system and what the problem was.
The household’s hot water system is a solar hot water system with Rinnai Continuous Flow Back Up. It was simply not functioning as it should. What we did was essentially clean and refresh the system. We will explain the details of the process more specifically.
Firstly, we cleaned the filter strainer which is located on the side of the cold inlet side unit. It is quite a small component that could fit into a hand.
From the name, you can tell this component filters water in the circulation system before it reached your shower. Ensuring it is clean is extremely important, lest you would like a dirty shower, which defeats the point of it all.
Next, we then removed the hot outlet pipe (which is where hot water will flow from) and flushed running water through the sensor control valve. This is to remove anything that may be inside the valve. Any small piece of debris can interrupt the system’s circulation, thus this is an important step. Once we finished flushing out the sensor control valve, we reconnected the pipework to the unit carefully.
Lastly, we needed to test whether the solution was effective. We adjusted the solar tempering valve, which is a unit that mixes cold and hot water to deliver an optimal water temperature. After that, we tested out the flow of hot water and found our efforts paid off when we found the hot water to be at a temperature of 45°.
