Gas Fitter Gas Leak in South Yarra
Gallant Plumbing were recently called out to a gas leak in South Yarra. We sent out best Melbourne plumber out to take a look at the problem.
Firstly, our best plumber met with the client and went through some possibilities of where the smell of gas was coming from. Following this, our Melbourne plumber isolated the front new section of copper gas piping to cap off and test with manometer. As a result we found a leak from capped connection. Our plumber capped the connection, tightened and stopped the leak.
Secondly, our best Melbourne plumber began soapy water testing every available visual connection. As a result, he found very slight foaming of leak testing underneath the floor. This leak was so minor that it wouldn’t have registered on the manometer.

Thirdly, our best plumber reinstated the gas supply, soapy water tested gas meter connections, bled air from the system and relight appliances. Our Melbourne plumber found the gas meter regulator seized and corroded.
Lastly, our plumber spoke to the client and gave three recommendations.
- Disconnecting or eliminating the entire gas line for new electrical appliances.
- Engage a gas supplier to have the gas meter regulator replaced.
- Disconnect existing gas piping and run the entire new gas property line.
Finally, our best Melbourne plumber found no significant indicator that the gas piping was not satisfactory and the gas smell could be from another source. He told the client to monitor and report back if anything changes.
